Power Quality in Modern Facility

Mun Hean Following our successful seminar in 2015 jointly conducted with IEM Malaysia on Helita ESE Compliance with IEC62305 in IEM Malaysia, Mun Hean Malaysia is honored to jointly organize another seminar with IEM Malaysia on 18 May 2016 Wednesday, on the topic, Power Quality in Modern Facility.

IEM 1

The seminar was held at IEM Building Petaling Jaya. The key speaker was Mr Chee Khar Chit from Mun Hean Singapore. Mr Chee is an Engineering Specialist. He graduated from Loughborough University UK in 1993 where he studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering and hold an MBA in Finance from Leicester University UK.

The seminar was chaired by Mr Alex Looi, committee member from IEM-EETD division. More than 40 participants attended the seminar. The participants are mainly from the professions of qualified engineers, consultants, end users and some contractor.

The first part of the seminar covered topics on introduction to Power Quality inclusive of understanding the sources of PQ pollution and the impact to operation, harmonics, voltage stability, power factor swing and industrial standards governing Power Quality. The second part of the seminar covered on case studies of Power Quality impact to critical facilities based on the scenarios of data center backup failure, semicon process plant yield management, PV over voltage for Grid Feed-in Control, understanding the IGBT technology function and application in achieve harmonics filter, reactive power factor control, phase load balance and voltage stability control.

The highlight of the seminar was the questions and answers session where many participants raised their problems mainly relating to harmonics.

Before ending the seminar, an appreciation souvenir was given to Mr Chee for conducting a fruitful seminar to the IEM members.
